Molecular Distillation Systems

Molecular Distillation Unit - Short Path Wiped Film System

Molecular distillation (short-path, wiped-film) separates thermally sensitive compounds at deep vacuum with short residence time and uniform heating. The FMD series ranges from FMD-60B (0.05 m², 1-3 kg/h) to FMD-230B (0.5 m², 2-20 kg/h), with magnetic seal, borosilicate 3.3 glass visualization, precise wiper geometry and included chiller/heater. Cannabis operators use these systems for THC/CBD distillate; pharma and flavor houses use them for API purification and tocopherol stripping.

Catalog Highlights

What the product catalog adds

These points are drawn from the supplied LM product catalog and turned into buyer-facing detail.

Short residence time, uniform heating and magnetic seal are presented as core system advantages.

Transparent borosilicate glass observation and wiper design are central catalog selling points.

Fully automatic, jacketed and insulated variants are shown as higher-end configurations.

Buying Guidance

How to specify the right system

Premium instrumentation decisions should account for methods, workflow and lifecycle service before the purchase order is issued.

Sizing & throughput

Size the system to 1.5-2x peak throughput to maintain quality at steady state.

Compliance & hazloc

Specify fully automatic / jacketed / insulated configuration for regulated cGMP environments.

Power & utilities

Plan additional rough and diffusion pump capacity if feed is wet or high in volatiles.

Buyer Notes

What usually matters during internal approval

These points help procurement and engineering move from browsing to approval without the usual back-and-forth.

Most buyers want the whole system boundary clarified up front — heater, chiller, rough vacuum and feed prep — and we scope it that way.

If cannabinoid or nutraceutical service is involved, note material compatibility and cleaning expectations.

Throughput claims should be framed around feed condition and operator target quality, not only maximum nameplate figures.

Request a quote with process, utility and destination data.

Include the target application, solvent or media, batch size, required temperature or vacuum range, facility power, hazardous-area requirement and destination ZIP code.
